Roosevelt Corollary

This political cartoon is about the Roosevelt Corollary. Uncle Sam stands on the positon of Western Hemisphere which is about Roosevelt Corollary. The cartoonist message of this cartoon is the U.S. using Monroe Doctrine which is the 1823 U.S. policy that banned European nations from intervene in Latin America. Also the U.S. would remain the dominant power in the Western Hemisphere. Next, the other opinion that another person could have on this issue is the U.S. could share the Latin interests with other European nations. The U.S could make deal with the other nations by using Latin interests. The cartoonist used labeling which “Western Hemisphere” to show that U.S. control over it. And “Monroe Doctrine” that other Europeans far away from Western Hemisphere. In addition, the cartoonist used symbolism that person with left side is Uncle Sam. The right side of people are the Europeans who want to intervene in Latin America. This cartoon support my pro-imperialism position. The U.S. would remain as police man in Western Hemisphere, and using Monroe Doctrine to protect the Latin America’s interests.
